Lois Lane

I love Superman's girlfriend, Lois Lane. Everybody knows how the intrepid reporter for the Daily Planet who spent an eternity being in love with Superman and trying to prove that he was Clark Kent. Eventually, the story turned to love and Lois married Clark and then revealed that he was Superman. Their love story is one of the greatest romances around. I would probably be one of the last to promote heterosexual relationships, but I enjoy seeing Lois Lane and Superman as husband and wife. I'm glad they got married. DC Comics, amidst its ongoing chaos (mass superhero killings, resurrections, blood and violence, villains off the hook), decided to reboot Superman's origin -- once again. After The Crisis on Infinite Earths, everything was rebooted, folks were killed off (like Supergirl), universes disappeared into non-existence (like Earth-2) and things were supposedly streamlined and never the same again. Now, DC has to decided to make things complicated again and basically return the universe to where it began. In the current mini series, Superman - Secret Origin, Superboy existed and hung with the Legion of Superheroes, Krytpo the Superdog is back, and Lex Luthor is from Smallville. Honestly? I don't care. Personally? I'm enjoying the series. Gary Frank is an incredible artist. Once again, honestly? Just bring back Earth-2. It should have never disappeared to begin with. Especially, Huntress, the daughter of Batman and Catwoman. The JSA belongs there as well. I miss the JLA/JSA cross overs. But, that's another story.

And, I've always loved Lois Lane. She doesn't just get into trouble to be rescued by Superman. She gets into trouble because she's an incredible reporter, the best at the Daily Planet. She goes after the truth and believes in reporting it at any cost. Sometimes -- normally, she would find trouble. And, Superman would end up having to save her. After Lois married Clark, it was cute for awhile, made super-super-cool by Terri Hatcher and Dean Cain in "Lois and Clark - The New Adventures of Superman." But, after awhile, in the comics, it seemed as if Lois had just become Mrs. Superman. She stayed out of trouble, I guess, so he wouldn't worry about her. Jimmy Olsen got more action than her! In Secret Origin #3, Clark Kent meets Lois Lane and Lois Lane meets Superman for the first time.
SPOILER ALERT -- my opinions now!!! What I loved most about the Lois Lane reboot is that she's adventurous, clever and still fashionable and sexy about it. (Yes, I'm still a gay man about these things.) She's no slouch. She immediately recognizes Clark's bad suit, bad posture, bad glasses which overtake his face and the fact he wants to be underestimated. What's most interesting is that she doesn't treat him like a doormat, immediately recognizing him as an ally, her "wingman," already prepared to move over Bernstein and Woodward to make room for --- Lois and Clark. I'm a sucker for it, because what comes next is vintage Lois Lane using Clark Kent as a distraction just to get into Luthor Corp, climbing over a fence in a skirt and heels (which is where the sexy comes in), getting the story and then falling off a building while trying to escape. There's no denying it --- I love-love-LOVE about seeing Superman scooping Lois into his arms and flying away with her. (Fantasies of being rescued by a man? I don't know.) Hopefully, the stories involving Lois Lane will be adventurous again. I'm a sucker for a sexy adventure. I love seeing Lois get into trouble. I miss it!!!
